President Mike thanks Aaron Cheatham for his presentation |
Mr. Aaron Cheatham of Hickman Family Farms spoke to us about the firm's transition and re-entry program. The program is designed to allow select inmates to work outside the prison during the end of their sentences, to gain a valuable skill and learn life skills. After release, the individual is provided transitional housing, typically for a year or less, for which they pay rent. During this transition there is also a savings plan and more life skills training so the individual will end the transition program with a nest egg which allows them to arrange for housing and living independently. The program has an excellent success rate and has allowed many former prisoners to get on with their lives while avoiding the temptations of their previous life.
Greg Peterson, guest of President Elect Cheryl, provided a quick update on the state of the airline and travel industry, the causes of the current situation, and how long it might take for things to get back to normal.
Councilman Clay Goodman commented on City of Buckeye news, noting the new Costco at Verrado Way and Interstate 10 is likely delayed due to a shortage of power transformers. He also provided an update on Indian School Road and other projects of interest.
