Our guest speaker on Tuesday, August 9, was Past District Governor Chuck Fitzgerald.  Chuck is a member of the Peoria North Rotary Club and served as District Governor of District 5490 (predecessor of District 5495) during the 2014/2015 Rotary year.  Chuck currently serves as the Sgt-at-Arms for the Arizona House of Representatives. 

 

Chuck's message was about Peace and the ways Rotarians can demonstrate peace in their community and in their daily interactions.  He shared with us the installation of a peace pole and a space for gathering on the grounds of a local high school. This gathering place has been accepted by the student body and is where mediation of campus disputes take place as well as a quiet place to mingle.  He also pointed out how each of us can bring peace in our lives and our vocations by being kind and thoughtful of others and to always look for those opportunities.  

 

Chuck will be hosting the 2022 Peace Conference.  The conference registration will open on August 16th at www.pursuingpeace.org. Attendees can set their own registration fee (even $0 if they choose). Everyone is welcome!
