Last Week

Last week the Rotary Circus rolled into town.

In the first ring, Past President Dave Faragher provided an excellent overview of our Rotary (International) Foundation, pointing to its origins over 100 years ago  and its top Charity Navigator rating of 100 & Four-Stars, the highest of any charity in the world.

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.
With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.

Our mission
The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

What impact can one donation have?
  • For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio.
  • $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
  • $500 can launch an antibullying campaign and create a safe environment for children.

He also encouraged members to consider becoming an Every Rotarian Every Year donor ($25 per year), a Paul Harris Sustaining Member ($100 per year), a Paul Harris Society Member ($1,000 per year) or any level in between.  Our club has donors at all levels.

Donations to the Rotary Foundation make excellent memorial contributions as they have a program to notify recipients.  A donation to Rotary is usually appreciated by bereaved families as an enduring token of your memories.

In the second ring, was President Holly, who urged everyone to get involved in Rotary committees as being a foundational part of any club.  Sign-up sheets were provided and will appear in the future.  President Holly has asked everyone to sign up for at least one committee.

If you wish you can let any board member know which committee(s) you would like to join.  Here is a list.
