Our program last week was Jeff Judy, coordinator of the recently established Buckeye Fire Department Responding Chaplains.  Mr. Judy said the Responding Chaplains were formed by the Fire Department to respond in cases of CPR, suicide and emergencies involving children.  Chaplains provide support for families of victims including comfort, company and helping them through these difficult times.  This will include sitting with them as first responders deal with the victim and helping to elicit information necessary to better understand the patient's situation.  They also assist with waiting for other family members or support to arrive and assisting with contacting the medical examiner and funeral homes.  He mentioned that in over 90% of the calls they have responded to, no prior arrangement consideration has been made by the patient or the family regarding funeral arrangements or even in estate planning.  The Chaplaincy program is comprised entirely of volunteers.

 

 

A club social was hosted by Todd and Candie Halberg on Friday, January 12. Those who attended the event had a wonderful time relaxing in the warm and inviting resort like setting that is the Halberg home.  Guests enjoyed snacks and the beverage of their choice while sitting indoor or outdoor at two different fire pits.  We enjoyed nice conversations and laughs and were sorry when the evening concluded.  A big THANK YOU to the Halberg's for inviting us into their lovely home.
