Our speaker last week was our own Ed Williams.  Ed recounted some highlights and lowlights from his 50 year career in law enforcement. Ed's career included forming the first SWAT team in the country at the LAPD and being its first commander; on-the-street experience with the Watts riots of 1965; getting grievously wounded in a firefight while serving a warrant; serving as a police officer in Palm Springs after retiring from LAPD; Sheriff of San Luis Obispo County for 12 years; Chief of Police, Acting Fire Chief and Acting Mayor of the City of Pismo Beach;  and working for the governor of California in considering clemency requests and advising on ADA improvements to prison facilities.  Ed is a modest man in spite of many accomplishments, but the wall in his office tells the story that Ed downplays.  A remarkable man, who spent his career serving and protecting the public. Even today Ed volunteers with the City of Buckeye in looking into cold cases. We are proud that Ed is a member of our club.
