Serving Verrado, Buckeye, The West Valley & the World
Chartered September 25 2018
Arizona Minute:
May 1, 1856 the first camels arrived in Texas to embark on the famous Camel Survey across northern Arizona to mark the path for the future Santa Fe Railroad and Route 66.
“Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
The meeting on May 12 was devoted to a club assembly where President Holly asked a few leaders to share.
George Cannelos, Membership Chair, highlighted the club's steady growth in the last year as well as the positive trend from 19 members at chartering in 2018 to nearly 60 members today. He encouraged us to share Rotary with others and invite them to join our family.
Christina Hubbard shared the excellent progress we are making with our red badge program for integrating new members into club activities, as well as her work in developing the Interact Club at Verrado High School.
Dave Faragher talked about being the Club Secretary and he was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship pin by President Holly. (see article nearby)
Ed Williams said he has been the Club's Sgt at Arms since the club chartered in 2018 (and we all know the highlight of our meetings is Happy Bucks)
Don Ester said he sets up the room, brings coffee and coordinates the treats for each meeting. He also asks the bold questions that many others enjoy.
Mike Hosking talked about the Club Runner Mobile Application and encouraged members to download it from the App store or Play Store and use it.
Due to time constraints, we were not able to hear from Foundation Chair Doug Bredow and Treasurer Trish Hosking.
Doug wishes to remind you that project funding applications are due May 22. These requests help form the project funding budget for the 26-27 Rotary year, so please complete them and send to Doug as soon as possible.
Trish has a pie chart which shows the club's costs and the sources of revenue used to meet those obligations. Please contact Trish if you'd like to have a copy of the Club's financial statements or budget. It's not a secret!
David Faragher Recognized for Support of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International
President Holly recognized Past President and Past Assistant Governor, Dave Faragher for his ongoing support of the Rotary Foundation. In presenting his latest Paul Harris Fellowship pin recognizing his 9th Paul Harris Fellowship, President Holly also noted Dave's leadership of the club, including two years as President, as well as his involvement in Rotary at the District level, having served as an Assistant Governor for 3 years and now serving on the District Foundation committee leading the Polio Plus efforts. President Holly said “Dave's example of supporting the Foundation and his his many contributions to our own club, sets an example for Rotarians”. Congratulations Dave!
