Our guest speaker last week was Clint Hickman, Chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.  Chairman Hickman was recently elected Chairman of the Board which is the second time he has been selected for this position. His term as Chairman is for one year.  Mr. Hickman mentioned that Maricopa County elected to apply a significant amount of federal covid relief money as a credit against property taxes, resulting in a lower tax bill this past year than the year before, in spite of rising real estate values (thank you Mr. Hickman!).  He also related some of the challenges he has faced as a member of the Board of Supervisors, especially in the aftermath of the 2020 elections.  He mentioned that he has had a phone call with Arizona's new governor and was scheduled to have a private face-to-face meeting with her soon. (Did you know that our new Governor is the fifth woman governor to serve Arizona.  More than any other state).  Mr. Hickman briefly discussed the water issues recently divulged by the state and the ongoing egg shortage.  There was a lively question and answer session following his remarks.  Thanks to everyone who participated and a shout out to Todd Halberg, Mayor Meck and our entire program committee for another great program!
