Arizona Trivia: Did you know Arizona has had 5 women serve as governor, the most of any state? (2 R, 3 D). Arizona also was the first state to have three consecutive woman governors. Last, did you know women in Arizona were granted suffrage before the rest of the US? Universal suffrage occurred when Arizona became a state on February 14, 2012.

Lieutenant-General The Right Honourable The Lord Baden-Powell Makes an Appearance
Looking remarkably fit for a man born in 1857, Lord Baden-Powell dropped into our Rotary meeting last week. Lord Baden-Powell, a veteran of the Boer War of the late 19th and early 20th century, wrote Scocuting for Boys which eventually resulted in the establishment of the Boy Scouts. Along with his sister Agnes, he was also instrumental in forming the Girl Guides and influenced the founding of the Girl Scouts of America by Juliette Low in 1912.
Of course, the real Lord Baden-Powell died in 1941, but our own Brigadier General George Cannelos (USAF-Retired) gave a very impressive performance as Baden-Powell, engrossing us in the story of how Baden-Powel came to found the Boy Scouts and influenced our own Boy Scouts of America (now Scouting America), which George has served in many capacities during his adult life. The performance was very well received, and it was remarkable how many of our members were influenced by the BSA during their lives. A very big thank you to General George for being our program last week.
