Last Week | Buckeye Councilman Clay Goodman was our speaker last week. Clay represents CIty of Buckeye District 6 which includes Verrado. Clay is member of the Rotary Club of Verrado and has been a Rotarian for 26 years. His comments today included the projects to be funded in the first phase of the new bond program, retail and other development at and near Verrado and recent concerns about safety. Police Chief Sanders was also in attendance to provide additional information about public safety. The councilman also answered numerous questions from the Club. |
| | Councilman Goodman gave us an overview of projects to be funded from the first phase of the recent general obligation bond issue. They include- A new fire station in Victory/Verrado near Acacia and Indian School A permanent structure for the temporary Westpark Fire Station Construction of a Public Safety Headquarters and Training Facility Public Safety Training and Support Facilities including a firing range and auto track Completing the build out of Indian School Road from Jackrabbitt east to the city limit at Perryville |
| | A lively crowd is held in rapt attention to the presentation of Councilman Clay Goodman. His entire slide show will be sent to members via email. Here are some interesting findings from recent police monitoring of our streets: Approximately 9,000 vehicles a week travel on Tiger Mountain from 208th Drive north to the Victory Club. Over a two week monitoring period, the average speed was less than the posted 25 MPH speed limit. No vehicle was travelling more than 10 mph over the posted speed Clay suggested we all pay closer attention to our driving. 35 is 35, not 37. The red signs mean stop, not slow down and roll through. Be aware of traffic control devices and observe them and set an example for other drivers. He said the police department continues to monitor problem areas, and approaches the problems with education, social media reminders, warning and citations. |
