Our guest speaker last week was our own Steve Ciucci, Chairman and CEO of the Astronomy Association of Arizona. After a brief discussion of the method of photographing space and how distances are measured in space, Steve shared with us some incredible photos of galaxies, nebulas, clusters and globulars taken with his own telescope and camera from his backyard in Victory. The oldest photo was of the Whirpool Galaxy which is 37 million light years away. Which means the light observed by Steve's camera originated some 37 million years ago. Fantastic photos! Once again Steve proved that some of our best programs come from our own members.
