Last week, our guest speaker was Dennis Letts, a distinguished Secret Service Agent who participated in five presidential protection assignments during his tenure. Mr. Letts recounted his professional experiences and insights as a Secret Service agent following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City. On the morning of the incident, Mr. Letts was stationed at the United States Secret Service's New York headquarters located in 7 World Trade Center. He provided the audience with a comprehensive overview supported by photographs, video footage, and audio recordings documenting the destruction, evacuation procedures, and response efforts at the World Trade Center that day. Mr. Letts assisted with evacuating individuals from the towers and ensuring their safety outside and played a key role in securing a tourist ferry to transport evacuees from lower Manhattan to New Jersey. The club acknowledged his presentation with a standing ovation.

A multi-national ceremony was held on the Village Green in Verrado just before sunset on November 11. Led by General George Cannelos for the 10th consecutive year, the ceremony included honoring British and Canadian veterans on Remembrance Day. The keynote speaker was Marine Ty Doolittle who did a masterful job of describing the bonds he had built with those he served with in the Marine Corps and as a police officer in Vancouver, British Columbia. The ceremony concluded with the lowering of the colors with veterans serving as the honor guard.
