Last WeekBuckeye Chief of Police Bob Sanders Speaks to Rotary President Cheryl and Chief Sanders In a recent address to the Rotary Club of Verrado, Buckeye Police Chief Robert Sanders discussed the challenges and strategies of policing in a rapidly growing city. Appointed earlier this year, Chief Sanders is steering the department through a period of significant change, as the city's population has surged from 5,000 in 2000 to 120,000 today. With this growth, the department is prioritizing the recruitment of high-quality officers over sheer numbers, despite the substantial initial investment required for each new officer. Emphasizing the importance of technology in modern policing, Chief Sanders is equipping his force with advanced tools to enhance safety and efficiency. This commitment to technology was illustrated through shared footage of traffic incidents, showcasing how such resources aid in effective response and resolution. Furthermore, the partnership with the Vestar shopping center, which provides space to the police department at no cost, reflects a community-oriented approach to policing. Chief Sanders advocates for visibility and accessibility as foundational to building trust and rapport with the citizens of Buckeye. Thank you to our fellow Rotarian Bob Sanders for providing an interesting and informative meeting and for his leadership in our community.
