It Happened at Rotary October 25

 

Lora Johnson of Johnson & Associates, was our featured speaker this week.  Lora provided us some excellent advice about the basics of estate planning and pointed out that proper estate planning isn’t just for the wealthy.  We all benefit from good planning to make sure our assets are distributed according to our wishes and to leave clear instructions for those we leave behind about our wishes for funerals, services and other matters. Good planning and organization also make it easier for those who are responsible for the disposition of your estate to do their jobs. 

 

Johnson also pointed to the importance of communicating with your children or other heirs about where they can locate the information about your final wishes and informing them in advance of your plans and, if appropriate, the reason for the plans you made.

 

 

In other Rotary news, it was a busy week!  On Wednesday we gathered for a club social and happy hour at Trish & Mike Hosking's home on a beautiful fall evening.  A big thank you to all who attended and for Kevin and Amy at Heritage Street Cooks for the chili, biscuits and the best rice krispie treats ever.

   

Early Saturday morning we were joined by the Buckeye Youth Council for our semi-annual Verrado Road Clean up.  A special shout-out to new member Marcus Green and member-in-waiting Gary Donnor for attending.  We were done by 9am and the street looked much better.  Thank you to our Service chair, Lloyd Trilling for organizing this event.
