Ed Williams Honored by Los Angeles Police Department (from left) Buckeye Police Chief Bob Sanders, President Holly, Ed Williams, Buckeye Deputy Chief of Police Charles Bezio Don Ester reported at last week's meeting that our own Ed Williams was honored with a Purple Heart award by the Los Angeles Police Department. According to news reports, the Los Angeles Police Department held its "Above & Beyond Awards Ceremony" Thursday, September 6, during which Interim Chief Dominic Choi presented officers with the department's highest honors -- the Medal of Valor, Purple Heart and Preservation of Life Awards, including a Purple Heart awarded to Sgt. Edward Williams. Ed joined the LAPD in the late 1950s. During his tenure, Ed developed and led the first SWAT team in the United States and worked as a Homicide detective. He was grievously wounded in an ambush in the late 1960s. As Don Ester mentioned, "Ed is a legend in law enforcement and we thank him for his many years of public service". He is also a legend at the Rotary Club of Verrado. Congratulations Chief, Sheriff and Sgt Williams!
