Future Perspectives from Maricopa Association of Governments
We’re fortunate to have Ed Zuercher with us to speak to us for the first time since he was unanimously elected to the position of Executive Director of the Maricopa Association of Governments, and then took office on March 6th of this year. MAG is a council of governments that serves as the metropolitan planning organization for transportation for the greater Maricopa region, with an area of more than 10,000 square miles. MAG’s members include 27 cities and towns, three Native nations, Maricopa County, portions of Pinal County and the Arizona Department of Transportation. Our own Mayor Eric Orsborn is a recent addition to the MAG Board. Ed was the former city manager of Phoenix, and has said that his leadership of the fifth-largest and fastest-growing city in the United States gave him a rare perspective on local, state, regional, national and international government administration and leadership. MAG’s previous Director Eric Anderson noted that Ed was one of the very few candidates who was equipped to hit the ground running in the Executive Director role, and we’re looking forward to hearing from him.
